Being winter with lots of cold weather, it's sometimes hard to get motivated to try something new.  For the most part, my hairstyle changes come in the spring (going lighter with highlights) or fall (going darker to cover said highlights.)  This year, I decided to change it up by going to the salon in the dead of winter and trying something I've never done before, a sombre (aka subtle ombre!)  I've been eyeing this trend for a while now and think I've amassed quite the Pinterest collection if I say so myself.

So this was this situation with my hair before my visit to Starshine Salon - in need of a cut and something to brighten up the color.  If you haven't heard of it, you must schedule a visit to see what the fuss is all about.  I've tried many different salons in the city and Starshine Salon is the only place I always come back to.

Starshine has two full time stylists Su-Shan (who typically does my hair) and Erica.  I love Erica's looks too!  They've added on a new stylist Maria (who's offering some pretty great deals for February, *hint hint*)  Su-Shan is so talented and has been doing hair for 16 years, including many years in LA.  Love hearing her great stories and seeing her work online.

I told Su-Shan what I was looking for, and this is the end result.  The ombre is such a gorgeous color-more of a copper that blends in perfectly with the black.  Exactly what I wanted.

Here is another look at the color, and an sneak peek of a upcoming blog post!  Can you see the copper?!  And the best part of these bangs, I can wear them multiple ways!

I asked Su-Shan what she thinks the upcoming hair trends will be, and she predicts more copper colors (check); rose gold, which is definitely pretty for blonde hair but I'm intrigued to see more; and curly angled bobs (faux bobs count, right!)

I had yet another great experience at Starshine Salon and will now be sporting this fabulous hair in future blog posts!  If you're in the Philly area and looking for a new salon, be sure to check out Starshine Salon and save time for happy hour in Manayunk afterwards!
