This transitional period is truly a mix of the seasons - we wake up to cool, fall temps, but emerge at the end of the day to summer heat. This drastic difference (here in Philly it can be a 30 degree difference!) can make it hard to dress appropriately. This is when my favorite trick of layering comes in handy!
First off, I had been crushing on this adorable ruffle skirt for a while. I finally snagged it from Oeyes, a new-to-me online store which I'm loving for their trendy pieces and affordable prices. Even though the skirt arrived as we are moving on to fall pieces, I knew I wanted to style it so that it too could be a fall look. The easiest way to do this was by pairing it with a cozy sweater!
I love an oversized sweater paired with a skirt or over a dress. Staple colors to have in the closet are black and a tan/brown, which can be paired with almost anything!
If you're like me and ready to start incorporating fall pieces but not ready to give up summer, here are a few ways to have the best of both worlds!
Cozy Sweaters - as mentioned here, start building up that sweater collection because they will come in handy for the next few months. I love an oversized sweater, but this year I am excited about two piece cardi and tank sets!
Dusters/Long Kimonos - I love anything oversized for a dramatic look. Pair a long duster with a tee and shorts for summer and swap for denim when it gets colder.
Capes - Capes will be big for fall and I'm excited to incorporate this piece into my looks this season. I haven't properly given capes a chance before, so I'm looking forward to the challenge!
Full sleeves - Layer tanks and dresses over another shirt, and ditch that when the weather gets warm!
Denim/Moto/Utility Jacket - This one is an obvious, you can't go wrong with a jacket!
